Today we are looking at a new theme by Themely, named Integral, it is a one page parallax WordPress theme designed for freelancers, businesses and startups. It packs in a load of features designed to help you build a professional looking website.
There is a free version available and an upgrade to pro version which costs $67 and includes some additional features such as reordering the homepage elements, typography styling and portfolio items.

Theme Setup
Once you upload and activate the theme, there are some required plugins to install for the functionality – Redux Framework, Contact Form 7 and the Master Slider plugin. You can do this in bulk, underneath you will notice a welcome screen which details the setup steps for you which is quite handy.
You should create a new page for the homepage, and from the page attributes dropdown choose the “One Page Template” and publish it.
Next you should visit “Settings” “Reading” and set this to be your front page under the static page settings.
Your site will now be setup so you can start configuring settings. If you wish to import the demo content for the theme, you will need to install an extra plugin – Widget Importer, activate the plugin and then upload the .wie file from the theme’s demo content folder and it will setup all the widgets for you so your site will look the same as the demo.
You can also import the slides from the demo site by visiting, “Master Slider” “Import” and uploading the .JSON file from the demo folder.
Theme Customization
To change the look of your site, there are two places you can do so – the theme has its own options panel located in your WordPress admin menu. From here you can change site-wide settings for things like typography, colors, logos, favicons.

The content for the homepage is all handled by widgets, if you installed the demo content you can visit “Appearance” “Widgets” and take a look at what has been added.

I like being able to setup your theme content with widgets, its how we handle the content on my own Single Page theme, it allows you the ability to drag and drop content and rearrange it quite easily. The theme has 8 different widgetized areas which are clearly labelled so you know which widget is designed to work in each position.
If you prefer to use the theme Customizer for styling your site options, Integral allows you to do that also. Visit “Appearance” “Customize” and it will load it up and you will see the same options from the options panel, but any changes you make will be done live so you have a better idea of how the theme will look without having to save and reload your website.
You can also toggle on / off sections of the homepage if you dont need to use them on your website.
Skill bars are a popular feature with WordPress themes at the moment and Integral also includes this functionality, allowing you to add a skill, choose a color for it and choose a skill level from 0 – 100 which will then display on your homepage. You can add up to 6 skills from here.
The theme also has a section for a newsletter signup box, you can paste code from the supported platforms – MailChimp and Constant Contact which will then be added to your homepage.
How it Looks
The Integral theme follows the familiar layout of a lot of business style WordPress themes, you have the header area with the slider underneath which uses the parallax effect when you scroll down the page. Under the slider are the feature icons area which have a title, main text and your chosen icon.
The work section is next and is for displaying your portfolio items, you can have large single projects with details and text about the project – you can add multiple projects which can then be clicked through using a slider. The project grid underneath displays portfolio images which open in a popup overlay when clicked.
Under the portfolio you have a clients logo section, a testimonials section with a slider and another parallax background image, followed by a services area where you can add text and icons showing what you offer.
Under that is a pricing tables area and call to action with text and a button.
The skills area is where you can display the bar graphs you configured and then you have a team area for displaying staff members, their info and social media icons.
Finally the theme has the newsletter form and a contact form in the footer area.
Conclusion
This type of theme is extremely popular at the moment and Integral and is a solid and well-designed example of such theme. It is packed with all the features you need to create this type of site and everything works very well. Im a fan of using widgets for displaying the content on one page themes, much preferred to bundling a page building plugin which can bloat your site, creating unnecessary code and will tie you into using that plugin. It should be noted that this theme will also be required for you to keep any content you have added via widgets as these are bundled in the theme package.
The theme is really easy to setup, I would recommend you use the widget importer plugin to setup all your widgets initially and you can then customize them from there – tweaking the layout and content as needed and using the toggles to hide any content you dont need on your site.
Most beginners should be able to use this theme to create a nice looking website which can be customized using all the available options to match your needs.
