The flavors of Chinese cuisine—sesame oil, garlic, and ginger—are reinvented in this hearty burger. This is a landlubber version of our Asian Tuna Burger —just as delicious, but made a lot heftier for big appetites.
MAKES 4 BURGERS
Ingredients
1¾ pounds ground turkey
1½ tablespoons toasted sesame oil (see Note)
6 cloves garlic, minced
¼ cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon peeled and minced fresh ginger
¼ cup finely chopped fresh cilantro leaves
Directions
1. Gently mix all the ingredients together in a large mixing bowl, using your hands. Form into 4 patties, each 1 inch thick.
2. Lightly oil the grill or a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the burgers to the desired degree of doneness, at least medium, about 4 minutes per side.
NOTE Toasted sesame oil can be found in many supermarkets and Asian grocery stores. Do not substitute light sesame oil.
SERVE IT UP on toasted sesame seed buns
TOP IT OFF with Wasabi Mayo or Orange Snow Pea Salad
