'Clash Of Clans': Supercell Releases Beta API That Displays Automatic Stat Updates To Players

Clash Of Clans Update

“Clash Of Clans'” developers at Supercell are making it easier for clans to get stat updates through a new developer website and API. Its automatic functions are limited and still in beta, but it might mean big things for the game’s future.

The news comes to Design Trend via an announcement thread on the “Clash Of Clans” forums. There, all the juicy details and player reactions can be read.

For those that don’t understand the technical jargon behind the post, an API is essentially a program that developers can implement in their own websites. In many ways, it can be compared to a widget that provides live data about a service or software as it’s being accumulated.

For “Clash Of Clans” specifically, the beta API currently allows access to a full clan search with badge images and member lists. There’s also a fleshed out league list with location-based rankings. An API with this data will likely be of huge help for those that manage their own clans. Instead of manually mapping out ranks and statistics on spreadsheets, this API can automatically provide those details on dedicated clan websites.

A forum moderator explained the advantages of the API perfectly. “With the API, it can update clan rosters live including current badge, trophy counts” and more. In other words, it’s said that “lazy webmasters like me don’t have to manually maintain our clan website’s roster as it can be updated live from the Supercell servers.”

In theory, provided clan runners are skillful enough, every clan should now be able to have its own website with dedicated stats by leveraging this API. The beta version only provides the most basic of details, but more intricate information will likely be added to it over time. For those deeply involved with the “Clash Of Clans” community, it could soon become the fastest way to see how the top clans are performing.

This development comes after a string of major software updates that were mostly maligned by “Clash Of Clans” enthusiasts. However, as the days stretch on without incident, it appears Supercell has finally curbed its once-rampant player backlash.

With major issues now in check, developers can begin working on smaller quality-of-life projects like this API. A faster and deeper understanding of every clan has the potential to drastically change how hardcore players interact with this mobile experience.

“Clash Of Clans” is available now on iOS and Android devices.
